February 28, 2004Ecological hopeI've had a number of discussions with friends over the last few months concerning the fate of our planet. The idea that things are progressively deteriorating is depressingly common, but I've found it difficult to adequately express my view that technology and market forces will deliver us from Greenpeace's dismal view of the future. Samizdata has a story on a visit by Bjørn Lomborg, the author of The Skeptical Environmentalist that very elegantly sums up what I wish I had been able to say. (Not that it would have changed anyone's mind...) Posted by Bruce Gottfred at February 28, 2004 08:34 PM | TrackBackComments
Im not sure if by fate you mean what WE are going to do to it or what its slowly doing to itself. Anywho assuming your talking about the later, apparently according to this one discovery channel blip I saw on tv a few months ago. The earth is moving further away from the sun and apparently were all in for a long cold death, yay. As for greenpeace, I find it hard to believe that technology only has the power to mess us up, and not bring us on the right track again. Posted by: Ian at March 1, 2004 04:45 PMPost a comment
