August 14, 2004Speaking of the CBC...Was anyone able to sit through the opening ceremonies to the Olympics yesterday? The show was a little slow, a little pretentious, but worth watching. But unfortunately the CBC decided it wasn't complete without Brian Williams and Peter Mansbridge yammering away in the background. It was like watching a movie with two film students sitting behind you, trying to impress each other with how clever they were -- when they weren't very clever. "Greece is the home of democracy. This mornings coverage of the women's beach volleyball was excellent. Whenever the 22 year old Canadian was serving the camera stayed on her for the serve. Whenever the 36 year old Canadian was serving the camera gave us a close up of the 22 year olds rear, with one hand behind her back, while the commentator told us about the hand signals she was making to her partner. Don't get me wrong, the older woman isn't hard to look at either, but her but isn't 22. I don't recall the camera ever focussing on her hand signals. Posted by: Greg at August 14, 2004 03:57 PMWell.
