October 30, 2004Guess who's a Michael Moore fan?Bin Laden suggested Bush was slow to react to the Sept. 11 attacks, giving the hijackers more time than they expected. At the time of the attacks, the president was listening to schoolchildren in Florida reading a book.Mark Steyn will have to eat his hat. How long before the conspiracy theorists suggest that the Bush administration held back this tape and released it themselves to Al-Jazeera? That reminds me of a game that a radio talk show host once did. He read several text excerpts, but you had to guess weather it was from Al Gore's book "Earth in the Balance" or the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski's Manifesto. The host's point was that Al Gore's book was strangely similar sounding. Posted by: Michael at October 30, 2004 04:34 PM"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." That's an adage Kerry's got working against him. And he hasn't done enough to distance himself from it. Posted by: Bruce Gottfred at October 30, 2004 10:05 PMI just dont understand how osamas family got flown out of the united states on sept 12, 2001 when no one was allowed to fly. it isnt a conspiracy to state facts is it? just to guess where they point to. it was a mistake not to kill osama bin laden when the usa had a chance to wasnt it? doesnt it somehow follow that a cynic would suggest some form of collusion? Posted by: sean at November 6, 2004 07:24 PMIt may have happened, but it's pretty meaningless. Check here for the whole story. Here's the most important part: The term "bin Laden family member" is rather misleading, as it is often mistakenly assumed to indicate a person with close ties to Osama bin Laden. By most accounts, Osama bin Laden was one of more than fifty children fathered by the same man; the bin Laden family is huge, with hundreds (if not thousands) of members spread all over the globe. Many, many of these family members are only tangentially related to Osama bin Laden and never had much (if any) contact with Osama himself. Moreover, his family disowned him after he fled Saudi Arabia in 1991 and was stripped of his Saudi citizenship in 1994 for smuggling weapons from Yemen. According to another news account about Saudis leaving the U.S. in the wake of the September 11 attacks:Posted by: Bruce Gottfred at November 7, 2004 08:17 AMMost of Mr. bin Laden's relatives were attending high school and college. They are among the 4,000 Saudi students in the United States. King Fahd, the ailing Saudi ruler, sent an urgent message to his embassy here saying there were "bin Laden children all over America" and ordered, "Take measures to protect the innocents," the ambassador said. The fact that "most of Mr. bin Laden's relatives were attending high school and college" in 2001 means that most of them were somewhere between 4 and 12 years old when Osama bin Laden fled Saudi Arabia. Students who were mere children when Osama bin Laden left Saudi Arabia, and who had spent at least some of their intervening years living in the U.S., were not likely sources for information regarding his current whereabouts and operations:"We did everything that needed to be done," said John Iannarelli, an FBI spokesman. "There's nothing to indicate that any of these people had any information that could have assisted us." Post a comment
